HART seeks to promote lasting change through aid and advocacy for those suffering oppression and persecution, who are largely neglected by the international media.
HART relies on first-hand evidence of human rights violations as a basis for a powerful twin-track programme of international advocacy and aid.

We believe that both advocacy and aid are vital to achieve long-term change for people suffering oppression. These people are often marginalized, may be trapped behind closed borders and tend to be unreached, unhelped and unheard.

We are committed to the prevention and alleviation of suffering and to the upholding of human dignity, the provision of support for local values, local ownership and local capacity-building as the most appropriate and sustainable methods of promoting change and a belief in the value of advocacy with aid; providing a voice for the voiceless for victims of oppression and persecution.

Advocacy has a fundamental role to play in bringing the evidence of oppression to the light of the international community, making the needs of victims of human rights violations known so that concerted action and targeted pressure can be facilitated.
