Mobile Medical Teams
In Karen and Karenni state, HART supports the courageous work of cross-border mobile medical teams who risk their lives to take life-saving medical care to the civilians who have had to flee their villages under attack by Burmese soldiers with their shoot-to-kill policies. These displaced people are living in appalling conditions, in the jungle, scavenging for food and without access to medical care.
Healthcare support has, as a deliberate government policy, long been minimal, HART’s partner Doh Say and his team regularly crosses the border from Thailand into Burma to take life-saving medicine and to provide basic healthcare within some of the areas of Burma that are experiencing on-going conflict. These cross-border teams routinely risk their lives to take life-saving medical care to civilians who have had to flee their villages, and who often have to live in conditions of destitution and danger in the jungle.
