Burma

Burma’s Ethnic Cleansing Continues: Stronger foreign pressure is needed on Suu Kyi’s government Bangladesh bowed to reality Monday and postponed the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Burma, a process that was supposed to begin this week. More than 650,000 Rohingya have fled over the border since August to escape mass rape and murder by the Burmese military.

South Sudan

UNMISS announces extension of peacekeeping presence to new locations in South SudanA new “light” peacekeeping presence is being deployed to the remote town of Akobo in the north-east of South Sudan to protect civilians and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to people in need.

South Sudan ceasefire body says leaders breaking peace deal could face sanctions An internationally backed ceasefire monitoring team in South Sudan said it has asked the U.N. Security Council to say whether leaders violating a peace treaty should face asset freezes, regional travel bans, or an arms embargo.
