Tamara Winter, the operations lead at the Centre for Innovative Governance Research has written an article for The Washington Times about the worsening situation for persecuted Christians in Nigeria’s Middle-Belt region.
The article
Using findings from HART’s recent visit to the Middle-Belt in November 2018, the article urges Washington and the international community to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern.
Tamara stresses that, “The focus on Boko Haram -both in Washington D.C and in Abuja- risks leaving the wider religious conflict in Nigeria unaddressed. The reality on the ground is Christians in the Middle Belt face persecution, violence, intimidation and, increasingly, death”.
Tamara continues, highlighting that, “As the U.K. aid group, Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART), has documented, “the asymmetry and escalation of attacks by well-armed Fulani upon predominantly Christian communities is stark and must be acknowledged””.
