Nagorno Karabakh: Urgent Letter Sent to Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs

14 December 2022

We are deeply concerned by updates received yesterday concerning the plight of Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh.

On 12 December 2022, Azerbaijani activists and soldiers set up a blockade on the Lachin corridor: the only road connecting Nagorno Karabakh to Armenia. The 120,000 Armenian Christian residents of Nagorno Karabakh are now effectively under siege. Azerbaijan has also reportedly cut off power supplies to the Armenians, exacerbating suffering caused by very cold winter temperatures.

Our Founder President, Baroness Caroline Cox, and Dr John Eibner, International President of Christian Solidarity International (CSI), sent a letter to James Cleverly MP on 13 December. The letter (available below) urges the UK Government to use its favour with Azerbaijan immediately to cease its policies of inflicting this intense suffering on the Armenians living in Nagorno Karabakh.

We encourage our supporters and followers to write to their MPs, urging the UK Government to take action.

HART stands in solidarity with our courageous partners and the people of Nagorno Karabakh.
