Birth Bags for Traditional Birth Attendants
Our partner trains and equips 'traditional birth attendants' to improve maternal and child health.
Because many villages in Chin State, Burma, are remote, women in labour are unable to access medical facilities or medically trained staff. Instead, they turn to Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) who are not medically trained.
HART’s partner now trains TBAs so that they can offer a higher standard of care to mothers and newborn babies. In addition to training them, our partners provides a ‘birth bag’, containing everything they need to improve the birth experience for mother and child and, in some cases, save the lives of many mothers and babies which would have been lost previously.
This gift supports HART’s partners via the general fund. Find out more here.
