Bring hope to forgotten conflicts
You dared to reach us
From the 2025 Smiley Charity Awards: A Story of Transformation in Patongo Town
I know of no place in the world where such a bad situation has so little international presence and so little international relief.
2005-2019
As fighting continued between the Uganda Army and the Lord’s Resistance Army, we spoke at length with local peacebuilders in Patongo town.
We established local priorities for aid and helped to launch PAORINHER (Patongo Orphan Infant Health Rehabilitation) a safe-haven for orphaned children and life-saving clinic for patients with HIV.
Families who were ostracised became embraced as valued members of their community. They became positive advocates for change.
PAORINHER has grown from 33 orphans in 2007 to over 700 children from across the local community.
HART dared to reach us during the 20 years of war between the LRA rebels and Ugandan Government.
We empower local communities
Meet Coletta. She was among the first orphans to arrive at PAORINHER. She now runs a textiles business. Her story exemplifies the lasting impact of your support.
