Latest Humanitarian Report on Nigeria: March – May 2019 Briefing

2 June 2019

In the countries where our partners work, human rights issues, political events and humanitarian crises rarely reach international headlines. We have put together briefings sourcing the latest humanitarian reports and news from the past three months in Sudan, Nigeria, South Sudan, Burma, Syria and Nagorno-Karabakh, which we will be releasing this week.

Nigeria

In 2019, it has been projected that 7.1 million people in Nigeria will need life-saving humanitarian assistance. In the past months, 894 children recruited by pro-government forces were released, Mohammed Buhari was sworn in for his second term, and almost 800 Christians were killed in attacks led by Jihadist groups.
