We have accomplished so much together in 2024. Despite huge challenges in many parts of the world, your support has saved and transformed thousands of lives. You have proven that there is always hope. Here are just a few examples of your impact.
Support for victims of forgotten conflicts
Nigeria: Thanks to your support, we deployed four education vehicles and three ambulances to 25 villages in Plateau State and Southern Kaduna. We prioritised locations where no one else is able or willing to go, reaching over 18,500 displaced people with humanitarian aid. Read HART’s Impact Report.
Myanmar: As more and more people sought shelter in remote locations, HART scaled-up its humanitarian response. Our local partners in Shan State were perfectly placed to help people in need. This included emergency obstetric services so that mothers could give birth safely. Read HART’s Press Release.
Sudan: HART’s local partners remained beacons of hope within their communities. They assisted victims of conflict who would otherwise be left to fend for themselves. Your support provided crucial aid and advocacy in the Nuba Mountains, Blue Nile, and the disputed region of Abyei.
Syria: We expanded the Women’s Empowerment and Food Security project in Maaloula, an historic town that suffered terribly during the early part of the war. (HART is monitoring the current situation closely; we will provide updates next year.)
Disability equality in Armenia
Staff and patients of the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Centre fled Nagorno Karabakh in September 2023. They sought refuge in Armenia, seeking to rebuild their lives and giving much-needed care to refugees with disabilities.
With funds provided by HART supporters, we acquired a beautiful guesthouse in Armenia, which will be renovated in 2025-26 to serve patients’ complex needs. The new Centre will provide essential therapies and expert care, as we strive for everyday equality for disabled people and their families. Thank you for helping to make this vision a reality!
Celebrating two decades of HART
HART celebrated its 20th anniversary in July. To mark the occasion, we published an inspiring Timeline Report (read the report) and a special documentary about your impact in northern Uganda, which has just been entered into the Smiley Charity Film Awards.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge
Earlier this month, we launched HART’s 2024 Big Give Christmas Challenge. Our fundraising target was £25,000. Thanks to your generosity, we more than doubled this target! Including Gift Aid, our grand total is £52,407.50.
