Raise money for HART whilst doing your Christmas shopping

18 December 2013

Christmas is coming up fast, and we are all beginning to look forward to a wonderful time of celebrating with our families. However, amidst the festivities many of us are keenly aware of that there are many others in their world who are not as well off as us, and look for ways in which we can share a little of the Christmas spirit with them too.

Give as You Live enables you to do just that, you can raise money while shopping for your Christmas gifts or ordering your Christmas groceries and it won’t cost you a penny extra.
Give as you live works with thousands of leading online store which have registered to donate a commission to HART for every online purchase made by Give as You Live users. This means that every time you shop online via Give as You Live, HART will receive a portion of what you spend. It is very simple to get started. Register on www.giveasyoulive.com and select HUMANITARIAN AID RELIEF TRUST as the charity you want to donate to, and start shopping!

HART works with people who are trapped behind close borders, unreached by major international aid organisations. Funds raised from Give as You live go to help serve people who are suffering from oppression and persecution in Sudan, Burma, India and other countries which Hart works in. Here are some examples of the HART project which would benefit from your donation.

Health and Hope Burma, directed by Dr. Taing Saing Sar (Dr. Sasa), is a community-based project, delivering health care training and community development programmes to remote villages in Chin State, Burma. Villages select one man and one woman to be trained by Health and Hope. After 7 months of training sessions, they will be qualified community health workers who to return to their villages to treat others there. Since 2009, Health and Hope have trained over 500 health workers from 153 villages.

In Blue Nile State and the Nuba Mountains, Sudan, constant aerial bombardment by the Sudanese Government means that people are unable to plant or harvest crops. Many hundreds of people in those regions are suffering from starvation and malnutrition-related illness, many have already died. The Sudanese Government refuse to allow humanitarian access to the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile state, however, HART provides emergency food relief to those areas. This enables Sudanese people to survive and prevents them from having to flee to refugee camps in South Sudan. They said: “We prefer to stay in our own land, even if we die from bombs. Now we have food, we don’t have to flee from our own homes”.

Every contribution made by shopping online through Give as You Live could make a big difference to people in need. Just £10 pays for one health training session for a person in Burma, £15 helps one family to get sufficient food supply for one week in Sudan. A little means a lot for us and our partners! In HART we have a motto which says that ‘’I cannot do everything; but I must not do nothing’’ If we can all do something, together we can make a difference in some of the most challenging parts of our world today.
