As the Sudanese Government forces civilians out of Abyei, Blue Nile and the Nuba Mountains, South Sudan has received an influx of refugees.
HART responded to this engineered crisis with emergency aid to our partners in the Bahr-El-Ghazal region of South Sudan. The plight of the deportees and refugees was desperate. As the already war-devastated people of Bahr-El-Ghazal could not provide adequate land or food for them, many were dying from hunger.
Funds have also been given for the purchase of seeds and tools for cultivation. This will enable refugees either to grow their own food, or to establish small enterprises to raise money to enable them to become self-sufficient.
