HART Prize for Human Rights: 2024 Results

Since we launched the prestigious HART Prize for Human Rights in 2010, the competition has received thousands of entries from the UK and around the world.

In 2024, more international students entered than ever before. We received exceptional essays and art projects from Australia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Armenia, Hong Kong, Canada, Bangladesh, Nigeria, India, Burma and the Philippines.

HART is inspired to see so many young people engaging with complex human rights issues. We wish to congratulate and express our appreciation to all participating students, schools and universities, including:

‘We all shine on’ – Evelyn Kan

First place in the Junior Creative Category: Evelyn’s piece depicts therapists and service users at the Lady Cox Rehabilitation Centre, Nagorno Karabakh.

 

‘The life of a Shan child’ – Miss Moon

Second place in the Senior Creative Category: Miss Moon reflects on her own experiences and the harsh realities of growing up in conflict-torn Burma.

 

‘The world without conflict’ – Xindi Zhang

Third place in the Intermediate Creative Category: Xindi’s oil painting depicts the importance of preserving childhood innocence for all children.
