Azerbaijan calls on France to prevent ties with illegal regime in Nagorno-Karabakh: At the meeting the sides expressed their satisfaction with the current level of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France. They highlighted the existence of vast potential for further development of relations between the countries in different spheres.

Azerbaijan welcomes UN Secretary General’s call for revitalising mediation initiative for Nagorno-Karabakh: Azerbaijan welcomes and supports the call of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to revitalize the OSCE Minsk Group’s activity on settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict among the conflicts existing in Europe, said Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Hikmat Hajiyev.

 

Nigeria

Boko Haram ‘Chibok girls’ video a propaganda counter-strike, say analysts: The release of a video purporting to show some of the Nigerian Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram apparently happy with their lives is a propaganda strike to show the Islamist group is unbowed, security experts said on Monday.

Routing the Fulani herdsmen militants calls for external help: THAT the militant Fulani herdsmen have become the greatest security challenge of this nation must be obvious to all who wish this nation well. In fact many objective watchers have declared that the now regular raids by the militant Fulani herdsmen is the biggest security threat facing Nigeria after Boko Haram.

 

South Sudan

Britain says monitoring South Sudan peace violations, eyes penalties: Britain said it was closely monitoring a ceasefire agreed last month between South Sudan’s warring parties and would work with regional partners to identify individuals guilty of violations and take action.

Statement by UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta H. Fore following two-day visit to conflict-ravaged South Sudan:  “I have just spent two days in South Sudan where I saw firsthand how four years of conflict have left children sick, hungry and on the brink of death.”

Sudan Authorities Detain Reuters, AFP Reporters On Protest Coverage In Khartoum: Sudanese authorities have detained a Reuters stringer and an AFP reporter who were covering protests in the capital Khartoum, the external information council, which deals with foreign media organisations, said.

Ethiopia, Sudanese agree to deploy joint border forces: Ethiopia and Sudan have agreed to deploy joint forces between the Sudanese Blue Nile State and the Ethiopian region of Benishangul-Gumuz to secure the border area.

Why married women in Uganda are getting circumcised: Traditionalists in Uganda are circumcising married women more than ever, a new report shows.

Poverty levels in northern Uganda drop: Whereas poverty has increased in the country in the last four years, northern Uganda is the only region that has recorded a decrease, according to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS).
