On the 7th October, Baroness Caroline Cox was recognised yet again for her efforts in advocating justice and freedom for all people as The Armenian National Committee of America bestowed its 2018 “Advocate for Justice” award to HART’s very own Founder and President. Caroline’s campaign against the violent persecution of ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) began as high-intensity conflict broke out with Azerbaijan in 1988. Her fight for justice continues into its 30th year as she works to bring the attention of the international community to the underreported suffering of people living in situations of conflict and persecution in the disputed enclave. 
“Over the course of three decades, Baroness Caroline Cox has consistently utilized her powerful voice and all resources at her disposal to bring peace and justice to the Armenian people of Artsakh and to highlight the aggressive actions of the Azeri government” stated Nora Hovsepian, Chair of The Armenian National Committee of America- Western Region (ANCA-WR). “Baroness Cox is highly deserving of the ANCA Western Region’s prestigious Advocate for Justice award” Hovsepian continued. Last Sunday, the American-Armenian community rallied at the Beverly Hill Hilton Hotel in California to demonstrate their appreciation of Caroline’s long-running support for Nagorno-Karabakh and for her determination to work towards peaceful resolution in the region.
As a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness Cox has led several delegations to the region, most recently meeting with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian in September to discuss UK-Armenian relations and her ongoing support for the region. Caroline’s 87th visit to Nagorno-Karabakh also marked the 20th anniversary of The Lady Cox Rehabilitation Centre, which was established after the desperate need to support people living with disabilities was recognised by the Baroness. Many casualties of war benefit from therapies provided by the centre, which treats over 1,600 patients and refers trained rehabilitation nurses to multiple regions in outreach initiatives.
The “Advocate for Justice” award is an exciting addition to Caroline Cox’s many accomplishments: the Baroness’s dedication to humanitarian work has seen her decorated with the Commander Cross of the Order of the Merit of the Republic of Poland, the International Mother Theresa Award from the All India Christian Council, the Wilberforce Award, among several other prestigious titles and achievements, including celebrated author of Ethnic Cleansing in Progress: War in Nagorno-Karabakh.
