Help our local partners realise their vision of hope for their communities

Our Burmese local partner Shan Women’s Action Network recently shared with us this brilliant documentary produced by Action for Shan State Rivers in September of this year. The documentary is called ‘Drowning a thousand Islands’ and shows commentary from local farmers and fishermen recounting their area’s fascinating history, and the devastating effects of the Burma Army’s scorched earth policy over a decade ago. The documentary also interviews refugees who fled to and still live in Thailand, as well as shining a light on the potentially catastrophic effects of the proposed Salween Damn project. The film also offers stunning visuals of remote and untouched locations in Burma’s Shan State.
