UK MPs Fail to Approve Genocide Amendment

20 January 2021

Last night MPs failed to approve the House of Lords All Party Genocide Amendment by a Government majority of 11.

HART is deeply disappointed that MPs have failed to approve the Genocide Amendment which had previously been approved in the House of Lords. HART strongly believes the UK should not trade with the perpetrators of genocide and will continue to fight for the victims of genocide.

The Genocide Amendment will now return to the House of Lords which will be asked to consider a refined version – which, if agreed – will go back to the House of Commons.
